Transforming a Community Hub for Future Generations

This project comprised the refurbishment and remodelling of the existing West Ham United Foundation building, alongside the construction of a new two-storey extension to increase capacity and enhance facilities for the Foundation’s community programmes. Associated hard and soft landscaping works were also undertaken to improve accessibility, circulation and the overall external environment.

The works included the reconfiguration of internal layouts, upgrades to building fabric and M&E services, and the delivery of modern, flexible spaces to better support the Foundation’s operations. The extension incorporated a cross-laminated timber (CLT) structure, together with specialist elements including piling, structural steelwork, drainage infrastructure and external cladding systems, all carefully integrated with the existing building.

The completed facility provides a high-quality environment for community engagement, education and wellbeing activities, creating a modern and adaptable space capable of supporting the Foundation’s future needs.

The project team supported local careers and employment initiatives, including participation in careers events to promote opportunities within the construction industry. Wider social value activities were also developed to deliver lasting benefits for the local community and strengthen engagement with local residents.
