Transforming Boston Manor Park: Improved Facilities, Accessibility and Visitor Experience

This lottery funded scheme aimed to revitalise Boston Manor Park by upgrading its infrastructure, improving safety, and making the park more accessible for visitors. The initiative focused on improving access for all users, enhancing biodiversity, sharing the park’s rich history, and providing a broader range of activities and facilities for the community.

Our role in this unique project involved the rebuild and fit-out of the park’s cafeteria, the refurbishment of the changing room and toilet block, the refurbishment of an outbuilding, and improvements to the service yard.

The café works began with the demolition of the existing building. Strip foundations were then installed for the new structure, followed by the construction of substructure blockwork. Superstructure works were carried out and structural steels were installed. A new roof was added, and interior decorating was completed. A new kitchen was fitted, along with full mechanical and electrical systems. Finally, bi-fold doors were fitted to create an open and welcoming space.

As the park remained open throughout the construction period, meaning public safety was a top priority. The works area was enclosed with two-metre-high fencing, which was regularly inspected to prevent unauthorised access. A comprehensive traffic management plan was implemented, with deliveries scheduled in advance, a permanent banksman assigned, and advance warning signage placed on all access routes.

The completed works have delivered a modern café, improved public toilets, and upgraded changing facilities, significantly enhancing the visitor experience at Boston Manor Park.
