Works began with the demolition of the existing outdated appliance bay and ancillary buildings to the rear of the building. Following the demolition, we constructed a new sloping roof extension for use as a new appliance bay, and single-storey link extension to west elevation of main building.
We also undertook associated services works, external works and drainage works in addition to the formation of new vehicular access on to Shoebury Avenue.
Part of the external works included the excavation of an existing car park / drill yard, during which our site team uncovered a previously-unknown WWII era bunker. It is believed that the bunker had not been uncovered since 1970. Once exposed, local media outlets attended to photograph this piece of history before it was subsequently infilled to allow the refurbishment works to proceed.
