Borras Company History

Now a leading main contractor with multi-million pound construction projects across London and the south east, we’re proud of our Hertfordshire roots. This is how it all started 45 years ago:

1980

Borras Construction is established by our founders, Rae and Carol Borras from their front room office on Hill Street, St Albans

1982

We relocate to 3 College Street in St Albans and over the next decade are joined by a number of experienced and expert directors

1986

We complete our first ‘Decent Homes Standard’ project and successfully deliver our first £1million contract

1988

We’re on the move again, to 31 Sutton Road, St Albans

1991

We significantly increase the amount of Social Housing contracts completed

1996

We choose a new look Borras logo

1996

We establish our Special Works Division which continues to play a large part in the business to this day

1998

Our turnover exceeds £10million

2000

We move to Salar House, St Albans, our first company owned Head Office

2000

First ISO accreditation achieved – ISO:9002

2002

The Borras Group Holdings Limited is formed

2015

We create the London Division, key to our growth and success

2017

Our largest project to date: Phase 2 Hounslow Heath Junior School (£9million)

2021

Works completed at St Paul’s Cathedral Choir School (£6million)

2025

Borras undergoes a rebrand and launches a new website in time for our 45th Anniversary
