Rae Borras reflects on 45 successful years in the construction industry:
“45 years have gone by so quickly. We started with one small job, and little did we know that we would have our name board in front of St Paul’s Cathedral years later. I’m so very proud of that.
We produce buildings that are testament to the skills of everyone on the team, but at the end of the day, we’re most proud of our real contribution to society, of the schools, hospitals and community centres we’ve built. We’ve done the right thing and it’s been successful for everyone – our clients, end users, and for our staff, especially.
We’ve always tried to value the people who join us at Borras, and we’ve worked with so many people who are worth valuing. We can’t thank all of them enough.
Rae’s best business decision- ever!
“Easily the best business decision I ever made is our Pay on Time policy for suppliers and subcontractors. It has made Borras their go-to main contractor as they know they receive prompt payment and are treated with respect.
It removes negativity for my teams. They can negotiate deals and get on with their work without wasting energy on firefighting.
The policy has been tough to uphold at times, but it means we have a business with a proper and ethical base. I hope the company’s next 45 years will be just as successful.”
